About Scan Erie

Scanerie Pennsylvania provides live public safety audio and alerts to millions of people a month. Our live audio feeds are heard 24 hours a day 7 days a week in real time over the Internet via a computer or mobile smart phone. We cover Erie, Crawford, Warren, and Venango Police, Fire, and EMS dispatch facilities. We also provide VHF and HF United States Coast Guard emergency and operation frequencies during rescue missions. This gives us a total coverage of 41 dispatch facilities. You will hear live incidents taking place in real time without delay.

Do to the nature and content that will be herd on these radios we strongly discourage any child under the age of 16 to listen to these broadcasts. Dispatches and on-scene emergency personal can be extremely graphic when speaking and frightening in nature to even our adult audience. Lets face it "this is the real deal, unedited and in real-time".

About our recorded Alerts (audio files)

We use a custom built FTO (fire tones out) software solution to identify the tones in Hz that broadcast over the scanners which in return would open up the firefighter’s pagers and set off their sirens. Fire-Tone out Operation allows the scanner to operate in a standby mode and respond to fire tone-outs, a system comprised of standardized two-tone sequential paging, short one-tone paging, and long group tone paging. We can save an unlimited number of these tone sets to follow and record the audio with the amount of time we specify. Currently 45 seconds. When our receivers pick up the correct tones it starts recording the audio. When finished it sends it immediately to the scanerie.com server without delay in small .mp3 format.

Our system will also allow us to send the audio via MMS and SMS or email as well! 90% of all phones out there can receive .mp3 audio and the files are so small. This is something we are looking to do in the near future.

Scan Erie does not broadcast the following:

* SWAT type operations if on dedicated channels or talkgroups
* Narcotics / CID / Investigations or other tactical law enforcement operations
* Dedicated channels or talkgroups for Ambulance to Hospital Communications
* Dedicated Federal Government or Military Communications (exceptions include any fire fighting or EMS operations, space shuttle communications, park ranger operations)
* Any commercial service broadcast (FM/AM/TV etc)
* Music or talk show of any kind (commercial or non-commercial)
* DJ or other type of similar activity (commercial or non-commercial)
* Open Microphones
* Schools/School Buses
* Citizens Band (CB)
* GMRS or FRS (either simplex or repeaters)

Scan Erie Respects our local law enforcement as well as other public safety departments in our region. The use of Scanerie is for entertainment purposes only. Our Scanerie toolbar, feeds, and recordings are not to be used to impede Law Enforcement from performing their normal duties.
